The increase of the gross minimum wage and of the value of the nursery vouchers

The end of September introduced two important legislative amendments to the gross minimum wage and the monthly amount of nursery vouchers.

The increase of the gross minimum wage

On September 28^th, 2023, the Government Decision no. 900/2023 on establishing the minimum gross basic wage guaranteed in payment entered into force. According to this piece of legislation, as of October 1^st, 2023, the minimum gross basic wage guaranteed in payment (without including allowances, premiums and other additional sums) will be 3,300 RON/month for a normal working schedule averaging 165.333 hours/month, representing 19.960 RON/hour. Such amendment does not apply to the agricultural sector and to the food industry.

The increase of the monthly value of nursery vouchers

On September 29^th, 2023, the Joint Order no. 2654/1925/2023 of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity on determining the indexed monthly amount to be granted as nursery vouchers for the second semester of 2023 entered into force. According to this piece of legislation, for the second semester of 2023, starting with October 2023, the monthly amount to be granted as nursery vouchers is RON 620. Such nominal amount applies until and including March 2024.
